coldbeer,

when you modified your fender to run the PX front fork, you extended out the shock side of the fender with that little buldge area. Can you measure how deep that area is? I'm thinking about having my entire fender widened, rather than just that one part.

I can measure it afternoon, but, then, it will look of centre, I don't know if you understand what I mean? Like this:
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/8443/ferdig037fv4.jpg
Then, you don't need to widen it, just widen the fork hole. On the other hand, if you widen it simetrically, it won't look good, it will be too wide to look good. :(

That is the reason I widened only the fork part. As I recall, it is about 2 cm wider (little less than 1 inch).
First four pictures show it: http://www.scootercentral.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=14921

my other idea is this...

Image

That's the vivo scooters "GS style" mudgaurd for their LML/PX bodykits. It has the "right look" and it obviously fits a PX fork. Thoughts?

I realized that I had forgotten to update this thread, instead i've just been posting this stuff on Facebook.

Here's where we are now....

I finished wet sanding the clear coat and am now buffing the paint.

Image

I moved it into my office...
Image

here is a random one, just to keep things looking sexy.
Image

I test fitted the seat...
Image

I think the seat is temporary. I love the color, but the fit of the cover isn't great, and I think i dislike the way the sprint seat sweeps up in the back. I'm going to keep this the way it is until I can find the seat I want. I'm looking for a locking ET3 small frame bench seat. I found the conversion bracket online to mount a smallie seat on a large frame. Then i'll have a seat cover made out of gray leather instead of this vinyl stuff.

I got my SIP PK conversion fork and bits in the mail. I need to dry fit everything so I can see where to redrill the mounting points on my fender. Then I just need to paint the fender, PK front hub, and somehow, i forgot to paint the gas tank.

then final assembly.

I started building the motor today. I spent 3 hours and 5 drill bits removing the old rivets from the cush drive. They had rusted/fused themselves into the gear.

no. It is a very deep gloss. I'll post some high quality photos in a few weeks when I start putting it together.

Don, no, it's not necessary to repaint the tank. But that's like saying it's not necessary to paint the underside of the hood of a car. No one will know, accept me, and every time I get gas i'd be reminded of my short comings.

i just ordered some replacement parts for the used 226 Hotwing that I picked up in the fall.

I have to finish this project by the 21st of this month, so I have 3 weeks to break in the motor/battle the demons before the first rally of the season, the North Texas Lakes Rally.

no shit. i'm up to the challenge though. I don't have any shoots lined up next week so I can work all day and evening on it. The motor will be finished this weekend, as will the last bit of painting.

They built these things in a day at the factory right?

i lost about a week and a half waiting for parts to come in. I'm about a week behind schedule now, but this weekend i'm catching up.

Today I finished the floor rails, closed up the engine and installed the new cylinder kit, centermat, centerstand and aluminum stand boots.

Tomorrow i'll put the motor back in the frame, mount the exhaust, then refit the front fork and start working on the headset and controls.
